Amythia

A necklace of skull shaped beads made of yak bone.  Found it in an import shop downtown.  It was on sale and i was oddly drawn to it.  However, because they didn’t know how the bone was procured, I didn’t wear it for a long time.  I let it sit with my other jewelry for possibly years.  People say that if a gem or natural substance (be it from animal or earth) was procured by any unethical, violent means, it will carry with it that energy.  For example, the term blood diamonds, and leather that comes from abused and farmed cows.

Some cultures do rituals to cleanse such objects, passing them through smoke, prayers, water, the moon, or burying it with in the earth.

Perhaps I used time, or just constantly thinking of it but eventually I felt it was ready to be worn.

I have a little fascination with skulls.  It reminds me of death.
